For baby #2 we wanted to focus on updating the room so majority of our costs went into major updates like ripping out the built in bookshelf & expanding the closet, new floors (i f*ing hate carpet), windows, etc.
How did we do it?
Closet- my dad ripped out the book shelf and framed a new big closet as the other was the size of a coat closet! Jamison did the Sheetrock work & then we painted. I wanted to make the closet more functional for a baby or adult (if we ever move), so we bought a cheap dresser from Lowe’s, and some wood for shelves and attached the dresser to the closet and then created shelves. We then matched a white paint color and painted the shelves white to blend with the dresser!

Affordable crib & bookcase changing table: TARGET!! Since we had created so much storage in the closet we decided to get a bookcase that doubled as a changing table for toy storage & easy diaper changing. We learned that we need more book and toy storage space with John.

Pictures: I wanted to go for a cow theme but keep it more modern instead of rustic as rustic seems to be fading out. I kept this SUPER affordable by buying my black frames at the dollar tree for literally $1 a frame. I then purchased a set of pictures of Amazon, and some off Etsy. Amazon Picture Pack: Highland Cow Art
Etsy Pictures: Set of 2: WillowandHomeCo windmill & black cows
Brown cows: WillowHomeandCo Cows in Pasture
Highland Cow: WillowandHomeCo black and white Scottish Highland cow
For the large Wood framed pictures I got the Etsy Pictures printed at Walgreens and they had a discount code for half price. The two brown cows is a 20x30 and the Highland cow is a 16x20. I then bought wood stretcher strips from hobby lobby half price, cut them according to the picture lengths and used a heavy duty stappler to attach the pictures to the wood stretchers.
Diaper Pail
Diaper pail: Dekor Plus- with this diaper pail you can use regular 13gallon trash bags instead of having to buy a specific kind of pail liner.
Storage Baskets:
In the changing table bookcase we purchased these from Walmart.
For the closet we bought these woven storage bins of Amazon!
Rug & Curtains: Target
